Panel Discussion

COVID-19 is expected to cause massive economic disruption which leads millions to lose their job. Low-income, marginalised, working-class people and immigrants are more adversely affected.

Workers are contending with three undeniable challenges:

> Jobs are quickly disappearing, some temporarily, others permanently

> Some jobs are precarious, with social safety nets and benefits disappearing in favour of contract and freelance work;

> Many jobs require changing skill sets.

Yet with this problem, it presents opportunities!

We invite entrepreneurs, innovators, changemakers to share their experience, perspectives and key insights about:

  • How might we enable small and new businesses, especially in untapped communities to prosper and create good jobs?

  • How might we support workers to advocate for and access living wages, social safety nets, and financial security in order to prepare for, withstand, and recover from economic shocks?

  • How might we equip workers with skills needed to stay at pace with the changing job market and economic downturns?

Intrapreneur are entrepreneur on the inside harnessing the assets of their incumbent institution – brand, innovation, people, money.

In this TED talk, Gib Bulloch, the Founder and former Executive Director of Accenture Development Partnerships (ADP), a ring-fenced not-for-profit consulting group within Accenture, steals a famous quote from Ghandi to prove that it is not only for NGOs to be addressing the world’s big issues.

His call to action is that the private sector with its extensive reach can and should be a key player and enabler.

Here at BOP Hub, we are collaborating with Intrapreneurs who are making products and services for the Base of Pyramid markets “cheaper, faster, easier and better”, improving lives and empowering 4 billion consumers at the base of pyramid.
